Each of these scrap metal animal sculptures were handmade in small town USA, by me Josh Price! All of my pieces are made from material I have picked up from yard sales, scrap yards, junk yards, flea markets, metal recyclers, trash days and sometimes even get donated by patrons or fans when I’m extra lucky. This being said, the sculptures can be somewhat dirty or greasy by nature. I usually do not clean off the story. The scrap goes straight from the bed of my truck, to the sorting bin and off to the welding table.
Because of the nature of the parts and how I acquire them, every single sculpture is one of a kind. I may make multiples of an animal, but your sculpture will be unique.
My sculptures would look great in any room, you can even display them outdoors. Keep in mind, they are going to continue to patina (rust). I haven’t pre-treated, painted or coated any of the sculptures. I allow you, my customer to decide how you would like the sculpture to patina.
If you choose to display it outdoors, you can leave it as is and it will continue to rust. It will not fall apart; it will outlast you or me! It will continue to age and add layers to the patina. If you love your sculpture just as it is, and wish to stop or slow the patina process, I recommend a few different options. You can treat it with Rust-Oleum or Krylon clear coat spay paint. Another option is to brush on a rust inhibitor called Penetrol, it stops and prevents rust, corrosion and oxidization while bringing forth the natural beauty. Depending on where you live, you may want to apply up to twice a year.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have.
Thanks!
